Hypertension - A Weight Problem

Hypertension or High blood pressure is one of the scariest effects of obesity or being overweight. It can lead to other sicknesses or disease like strokes, heart failure, heart attacks and kidney failures - to name a few. If you are obese and is experiencing headache, drowsiness, confusion, vision disorders, nausea, and vomiting most of the time you may be a recipient of high blood pressure.

Save yourself

Only you could decide if you want to lose weight and avoid high blood pressure. No one could do that for you. Aside from medicines and drugs that would counter the effects of hypertension (they don't cure you, it just temporarily lowers your blood pressure) you could follow these fool-proof steps to enjoy a healthier and hypertension-free lifestyle.

Eat less than normal

Your body needs calories to be able to support your body systems. Calories mean food and drink. Our body needs a certain amount of calories so that everything would work finely. For example, a 30-year old male needs an approximate amount of 2500 calories per day. If he eats below that, he loses weight. If more, he gains. All you need to do is consult a dietitian that could give you the exact number of calories you need and a diet plan that would be sufficient to that amount. Follow the diet for the first couple of days and regularly reduce it so that you would lose weight. I assure you, if you keep eating less than usual, your weight problems will diminish soon.

Move more than Usual

Exercise is the best friend of Diet. It would be hard to overcome your weight problems without exercise. Try aerobic or cardiovascular exercise that would keep you alert, stress free and lean. Why not play your favorite sport with a friend every morning? Or joining your wife in ballroom dances rather than just watching her? Even taking your favorite dog on a walk around the park before going to bed? There are multiple ways to keep you breaking up a sweat and losing weight that might interest you. The gym and fitness centers are not the only options you do have. Plan accordingly and have a revolving schedule on your options so that exercise becomes a habit not an obligation.

Visit the apple's enemy regularly

Your personal or family doctor is one of your best allies. Have a regular checkup with him or her (especially if he or she has given you medicine that you would regularly take). Ask for advice; a call or two would not hurt if you have questions about food you might be eating or workouts you might be doing. Obey the instructions and that would lead you to the healthiest road available.

Combating Hypertension is not easy but it is possible. Follow these advices to overcome your weight problems and your high blood pressure would normalize.

How to Overcome a Growing Weight Problem

One of the biggest problems you will face in your battle to overcome a growing weight problem is you. Losing weight is one challenge but the bigger challenge is keeping the weight off. You may see some celebrities lose 30 or 40 pounds and 6 months later you see them on a daytime talk show and they are back to their original weight. Even folks with billions of dollars struggle trying to figure out how to overcome a growing weight problem.

You know that it is possible to overcome your weight problem. You just need to improve in a couple of areas so you can successfully manage your weight. Albert Einstein who was a pretty intelligent guy suggested that it is insane to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. So we sometimes need to change our ways to overcome a growing weight problem or lose weight.

First you have to improve your eating habits. Here are some simple examples of practical changes you can make to help you overcome your growing weight problem.

Breakfast - Minor change results in 400 less calories taken in. See illustration below.

If you are a Duncan Donuts breakfast eater instead of having a multigrain bagel with lite cream cheese (500 calories, 17 g fat, 6 g saturated and 850 mg sodium) try the ham, egg and cheese English Muffin (350 calories, 15 g fat, 1,104 mg sodium)

Instead of a Duncan Donuts glazed cake donut (320 calories), have a glazed donut with 220 calories.

Instead of a Duncan Donuts Dunkaccino (230 calories) have a small Hot Latte Lite (80 calories)

Although the above illustration is for Duncan Donuts foods the same can be done at any other breakfast place you prefer to eat at.

Lunch - Burger King

If you are a Burger King fan instead of having a Burger King big fish sandwich with tartar sauce and medium fries (1,120 calories) have a Whopper JR. without mayo and a garden salad (360 calories).

Instead of French Fries (340 calories) have some Onion Rings (150 calories).

Dinner - On the Border - Change a meal and take in 550 - 1155 less calories.

Instead of a Chicken Fiesta Salad with chipotle honey mustard dressing (1,070 calories) try a chicken salsa fresca (520 calories). How about passing up the sautéed shrimp fajitas with rice, beans and all the fixings (1,745 calories) and have the 2 crispy chicken tacos with grilled vegetables and guacamole (590 calories).

The more you pay attention to your calorie intake the more successful you will be in overcoming your growing weight problem. The saying "you are what you eat" is pretty much true. If take in less calories you will have less of a weight problem.

The other way to overcome your growing weight problem is to exercise regularly. Please remember that I said regularly.

If you don't want to be an up and down dieter, than you have to incorporate some consistent exercise in your life.

There are so many options available to find the exercise that fits you. If you have the money and can hire a fitness trainer then best of luck to you. Most others don't have the money or time to invest in a trainer. You could choose to join a gym although some are too embarrassed to go work out at a gym.

The only thing you can't afford is to do nothing. So here are some simple suggestions to help you overcome your growing weight problem, the dollar store way.

Before you start any serious forms of exercising I would suggest you discuss your plans with your Doctor. This way you can feel comfortable with the exercising journey you are about to embark on. Regardless, always start out gradually and work within your comfort level. Don't push your body too hard at the outset because it just may push you back.

Walking - Walking can help you lose weight and is a great method to improve your overall health. Walking at a moderate pace helps to boost your metabolism which helps keep those calories you took in from turning into fat. Walking 4 days a week (30 to 40 minutes) each day will get you on the right path to keeping unwanted weight off.

Exercises such as brisk walking, skipping, running in place or on a treadmill, stationary bicycle etc. performed every few days a week, alternately, can be more efficient in burning fat than running.

Running - Running to help you overcome your growing weight problem is another simple method to burning fat.

However, if you are not accustomed to running you should be careful starting out because your body needs to build up strength to handle to the running. You will need to make sure you have a pair of high quality running shoes i.e., Reebok, Adidas, Nike, just to name a few.

Try to shoot for 3 to 4 times each week.

Try interval training (running at a very fast speed for short intervals of time) into your running routine which will help your weight loss efforts.

Set a goal that you are comfortable with and implement a walk/run schedule. For example, if you plan on exercising for 19 minutes, walk 5 minutes, run 2 minutes, walk 5 minutes, run 2 minutes and walk 5 minutes. Adjust the minutes and ratio of time between walking and running based on your comfort level.

The way to overcome a growing weight problem is to eat better and implement a regular exercise routine. When you start to make these few changes you will no longer be considered insane because you will not be doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

You will be more mindful of your calorie intake and exercising and your life, health and well being will be better for it.

The First Step to Solving the Weight Problems of Your Dog

It seems that our canine friends are starting to match us when it comes to our waste lines. The West is famed for the near epidemic status that obesity has, but there's an often forgotten problem with weight when it comes to our dogs. In fact, it is estimated that anywhere up to forty percent of dogs have a problem with weight, and just like with humans it can greatly impact on their quality of life and longevity. So it's important to do something so as to counteract this, and one of the steps to solving the problem is admitting that the problem starts with you. In the following article, i'll briefly talk about how to go about identifying and changing the actions you make that bring this about.

Firstly though, a few fundamentals. If you're looking at this, it's fairly reasonable to assume that you have a dog with a weight problem. But in virtue of wanting to find out information on how to help your dog, you're also a caring and loving owner. Part of that is recognising how your dog reacts to your own commands and actions. So how does this link in to dog obesity and dog weight problems? Well, the weight problems of your dog come about because of your own actions. It is you who are giving in to their pleads and feeding them scraps of the foods that are normally consumed by humans.

But accepting this is the first step to acting towards reducing your dogs weight. By being aware that giving them scraps, and failing to take them out for walks cumulatively builds up in weight gain, you can locate what actions you take are at fault and change them.

Understanding the Underlining Problem Behind Weight Problems

Millions of people around the world are either obese or overweight. Yet, this global weight problem is shrouded by myths and misconceptions.

The World Health Organization reported that around the world in 2005, approximately 1.6 billion adults were overweight at least 400 million adults were obese.

There is a wide belief that overweight and obese individuals are to be blamed for the state that they are in. Reality is, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to obesity and overweight. Obesity and overweight are caused by a number of factors. Studies have shown that genetic make-up, psychological element, socio-economic and environment factors all affect one's weight.

One's genetic make-up plays an important role in the weight problem issue. People have different metabolism. Some have propensity to get fat, while others can burn fat easily.

Cognitive behavioral therapists have asserted that psychological element plays a valuable role in one's weight problem. Studies have shown that people who are either obese or overweight view food as a symbol that they are loved. Some people simply over eat because they are angry or stressed out.

One's economic status also plays an important role in the weight problem. The National Public Health Service for Wales Health Needs Assessment reported that people with low income tend to replace fresh food with cheaper, processed, high fat items.

One factor that contributes most to the global weight problem is the environment. Globally, people are becoming obese and overweight due to these environmental scenarios: lack of safe, free or cheap places for recreation and physical exercise; long hours at work and much time spent for commuting to and from work; oversized food portions in food establishments; lack of access to healthy foods; and food advertising enticing people to buy sugary drinks, high-calorie and high-fat snacks.

Important Steps To Help Stop Teen Weight Problem

If your teenager has a weight problem, it will not normally just go away and a youngster may need help sooner rather than later; unless something is done to stop this weight gain it will have serious effects on their health, psychologically and physically. There has never been a time when young people were more self conscious and obsessed with their own self image; a true recipe for future problems when weight is an issue. Whilst many people see education as the way forward, some individuals have set up training camps purely for teen weight loss purposes.

If left unchecked, weight problems will mean they will have physical and emotional problems in their adult lives as well. Many overweight people suffer with many ailments associated with serious weight gain including:

*Heart problems

*Circulatory conditions

*Late onset diabetes

*Joint problems

Education on teen weight loss is an important step to help stop this from happening. The situation is not helped when a teenager is overweight as they are going to be prime candidates for name calling amongst their school friends.

Often, these names follow them around for many years into adulthood and do nothing to help the self image of the individual concerned. Parents with teens that need to lose weight are not alone with many groups available to help them because it can be difficult to know how to deal with the situation. Not only is obesity becoming a global problem but it is affecting increasing numbers of young people and many companies have become very successful at selling weight loss products for adults and teens, but not all of them work.

It must be instilled early on that teen weight loss programs are not just about losing weight but about the reduction of body fat which is the main problem to overcome. A parent should not panic their child into losing weight as this can have an adverse reaction; after all, weight takes time to amass and will also take time to lose if done safely. The first thing to do is speak to a professional who specializes in teen weight loss and carry out some research on your own; The first thing to do is speak to a professional who specializes in teen weight loss and carry out some research on your own;

It is important not to rush into a teen weight loss program that requires massive weight loss without strict supervision as they can be more dangerous than the excess weight. Whilst 'starvation diets' can work often body mass is lost from the muscles and not for the areas that require trimming down; this can result in problems with muscles growth. So the purpose is reduce the body fat and information on this subject is considerable but if the teen can achieve this, a long term healthy weight balance is more likely.

Understanding the Roots of the Weight Problem And the Need For Proactive Weight Loss Efforts

There are many people involved in various weight loss efforts these days. Indeed, in some parts of the world, it has become the 'default status' - so that you expect anyone you meet to be either enrolled on some diet (and probably struggling to stay on it) or to be using one or another weight loss supplement. It is not hard to understand the trend when we explore the roots of the weight problem.

The main root cause of the weight loss problem is the fact that our bodies have not evolved in tandem with our recent developments. The recent past (especially the last two centuries, which is a very short period of time in evolutionary terms) has seen the mechanization of most human tasks. The average human being today works more with their mind than with their body. This was hardly the situation a couple of centuries ago, when pretty much everyone had to work with their hands to get enough to eat. Yet it is not just about work, but also other tasks: such as mobility, cleaning, cooking and pretty much everything else have been mechanized - so that the modern human being has very little to do with his or her (physical) body. People still work, of course, but they mostly do so in the sitting position, which doesn't count as 'work' in physical terms.

Our bodies, of course, weren't designed for this type of life. They were designed for an active lifestyle of hunting and gathering. 'They don't seem to have realized that times have changed.' They still expect us to be out running for prey (or from predators); not knowing that we left the bush so long ago.

In the meantime, another trend has been taking shape, where due to our technological advancement, we are able to produce a lot of food for ourselves. Unfortunately, our bodies, thanks to their failure to keep in tandem with the changing times, are still inclined to wolf as much of the food as they come across. This is typical bush behavior. You can never be very sure, in the bush, of where the next meal you get will come from. So you eat as much as you can, when you chance upon any food. It is that genetic programming, rather than moral weakness, that is behind the overeating which is behind most cases of weight problems.

The body, still unaware of the developments that have taken place, will not only motivate you to eat as much of the food you chance upon as possible, but will also try to process as much of it as possible into a storable 'format' (the fat format)and keep it inside to serve as a reserve. It doesn't realize that the need for such reserves is largely not there nowadays. These reserves keep on accumulating (as you are motivated to eat more, and as you don't get to exercise due to the sedentary lifestyle)...and the end result is the weight problem.

It is this then, that gives rise to the need for proactive weight loss effort: understanding our bodies, and the fact that they are still a step behind in evolutionary terms. It means resisting the body's urge for you to eat more, because you know that would be maladaptive in today's society when you are very sure where the next meal will be coming from, and where you are very sure that will be back at it (eating) just a few hours down the line. It also means resisting the body's urge for you to eat more, keeping in mind that you most probably won't have enough time to exercise so as to burn up all the food -as would have been the case in a hunting-gathering scenario. It also means taking time to exercise as much as you can, so as to burn the food reserves (in form of fat) that the body inevitably keeps on your behalf. In other words, it means you have to take proactive steps at weight loss.

I Want a Permanent Cure For My Weight Problems!

Today, two thirds of the population is already overweight. We all know about the damage large scale human intervention can do with say, climate change. But few people, yet, will be aware of the disgraceful, largely ignored human intervention with added foods we were never meant to eat.

We follow diets created by people we wrongly believe have legitimate science or medical credentials. They claim their diets are safe and have greatly contributed to our health and that of our children. It is true, their diets have had an effect on our weight but what does that mean? Take a look around on any busy street and you will see the result for yourself. Thirty to forty years ago, NORMAL used to mean SLIM.

So, to anyone who is at that crossroad where we ask ourselves; do I start yet another diet or do I let nature take its course? First of all, it is highly unlikely nature had anything to do with your weight problem. Your body is as much a victim as you are.

The one answer I can give you with certainty: You do not want to go on another diet. They do not work, ever! They break nature's rules and sooner or later the weight will be back. Each time the weight returns, it will bring an extra bonus, more weight.

There was a time when diets were rare, when people knew what foods to eat because their parents and grandparents had taught them, They in turn had learned it from their parents. People were in tune with their body and knew what it needed. That would be eons ago right? Well, no! Just thirty to forty years.

Parents still control what their children eat, but they are guided by the experts. The foods being recommended are not what your body wants. They are voodoo science by self proclaimed experts, who defy logic and ignore evidence that people get fat when they eat the wrong food.

They even blame the victims. We, the dieters don't listen to the experts, we don't eat the foods they recommend, we have no will power, we eat all the bad foods etc. Nothing could be further from the truth. The problem is not the Dieters. The problem is the Diet. You see, we DO listen and we DO try to stay on those diets. The fact is our body will not allow us to change our digestive system.

I find it utterly amazing that it has been left to an amateur like me to discover a cure. But I am sure a permanent cure for weight problems is not what the diet industry has longed for. Be warned; there are many vested interests involved in what ends up on your food plate.

So, yes; I did discover a way to cure my weight problem, permanently, without diets and without counting calories. The most important thing about it is that It Is Not a Diet. Not only will you finally be happy with your body, but so will Nature.

The No-Nonsense Prescription for Your Weight Problems

Lucky are the people who are blessed with the kind of genes and metabolism that let them indulge in their favorite foods without gaining an ounce. If you are not one of those people and you find yourself dealing with weight problems, take heart. You can still lose weight without having to ever give up your favorite foods. However, the no-nonsense approach to taking the pounds off AND permanently keeping them off requires willpower, sacrifice and determination. You also need to get rid of your propensity for jumping on the fad diet bandwagon, because face it, fad diets DO NOT work.

What weight loss regimen does work? One that has been preached by nutritionists and physicians alike for years but ignored by impatient dieters who want faster, more drastic results. Here are the principles and essentials for dealing with excess weight minus the hype:

1. Weight problems are exacerbated by fad diets. The latter is responsible for wreaking havoc on one's metabolism. A typical fad diet usually involves a period of fasting or subsisting only on one or two types of food for a number of days. Celebrities and professional models desperate to shed weight quickly before a red carpet event or swimsuit photo shoot have popularized this type of diet. But the truth is, half-starving yourself only slows down your metabolism. Your body's survival gene kicks in, triggering your metabolism to cut back on its functions to preserve remaining fats and nutrients you have. So never EVER resort to drastic methods.

2. You need to practice portion control. This is how slim people who claim to eat anything they like succeed at avoiding weight problems - they control their food portions. Want some chocolate cake? Have a thin slice, not a thick slab. Craving for a foot-long submarine sandwich crammed with a slew of meats and melted cheese? Split the sandwich among friends. Lest you think that this is another one of those fad diets, no, it's just really about being sensible with the amount of food you ingest. Our stomachs are about the size of a fist. Why would you want to stuff it beyond its intended capacity?

3. You need to incorporate exercise into your weekly routine. You don't have to run seven days a week to get results, though that would certainly help a lot to get rid of weight problems. Weight loss occurs and becomes permanent if you diligently maintain an exercise program well into your years. Not only do you burn off the calories, but you also build muscle. Having more muscle mass tones our body and aids our metabolism in expending energy. Choose the type of exercise you think you would enjoy. It can be jogging, power-walking, yoga or Pilates. Your body will thank you for it.

4. Don't start your weight loss program just before a major event. Lots of people make the mistake of taking care of their weight problems a few weeks before the holidays, their high school reunion or some other important event. Desperate for results, they turn to fad diets to fit into their special outfits. It just cannot be stressed enough that real weight loss can only be achieved if you allow yourself a reasonable time frame like AT LEAST a few months. A few weeks is never going to cut it. You would most likely be losing water from your system and not real fat.

5. Learn to "pay for your indulgences". This means that if you give in to some form of temptation, you need to make up for it. As an example, let's say you attended a party Saturday night and you had more than your fair share of treats and drinks. You need to pay for that indulgence by cutting back on the next day's meals AND doing an extra half hour of exercise. Sounds tough? Well, if you want to have your cake and eat it too, be ready to pay the price. When it comes to battling weight problems, you need to accept that there will always be a payoff, so toughen up.

In summation, gradual behavioral modification coupled with willpower and good judgment will always outweigh the hurried pace of fad diets. It took you a long time to gain all that weight; you can't expect to lose it overnight. So give yourself time to work on your weight problems. Believe in yourself, stick to your healthy and sensible routine, and you will succeed.

How the Use of Some Liquid Vitamins Can Help in the Fight Against the Weight Problem

It is no secret that the weight problem is a major one in many people's lives, especially in the western hemisphere. Attempting to look at the causes of the problems would cause us to digress greatly - but we all know the commonly mentioned culprits: high food intake levels, increasingly sedentary lifestyles and so on. The weight problem wouldn't matter a great deal if it was just a matter of being 'heavier' or looking 'bigger.' Unfortunately, being overweight comes with a huge accompaniment of health problems - some physical and some psychological, which makes it more than just a cosmetic issue.

It is out of awareness of the health risks that come your way by virtue of your being overweight that you would find yourself inclined to start taking steps to bring down your weight. Traditionally, the piece of advice you would be given, in terms of steps that you need to take in order to bring down your weight would be something to the effect that 'you need to start eating more sensibly and exercising more regularly.' But as many people come to learn, in spite of their best efforts at eating all the right things and doing all the right exercises, their excessive weight doesn't seem to be coming out of them. This is where the need for a third aid, to help in the fight against the weight problem comes in - with that third aid being supplement use.

There are many varieties of supplements that promise to make weight loss a possibility. Our focus here is on those that are presented in the form of liquid vitamins (where one of the most commonly quoted benefits of liquid vitamin use is where we are told that the vitamins could help us lose weight). Indeed, a considerable percentage of the people making liquid vitamin purchases are after nothing else other than this weight loss benefit. But as it turns out, there are many other products that promise people to help them lose excessive weight, and fail to do so. It would therefore not be surprising for a person considering making use of the liquid vitamins in a bid to lose weight to want an explanation as to the mechanism through which the liquid vitamins can be of help in the fight against the weight problem.

As a closer look at the liquid vitamins that promise weight loss benefit reveals, they all tend to contain one vitamin in common: vitamin B complex. What vitamin B complex does is to catalyze metabolism. In other words, this is a vitamin which can ease and increase the rate of metabolism. And this is the way in which it would be making weight loss possible, because if the rise in rate of metabolism is not matched with an increased food intake, then the body is forced to start making use of the food reserves stored in it (in the form of fats) to feed the higher metabolic rate. So there you have it: the mechanism via which liquid vitamins can help in the fight against the weight problem.

Lee M Chan is a pharmaceutical technologist and health writer of long standing. One of her areas of interest in the recent past has been that of resveratrol. She has authored a considerable number of articles on various issues to do with the liquid vitamins.

HCG Weight Loss Forum, How it Can Help You With Your Weight Problem

There is a good place you can go when (1) you are thinking of applying the HCG weight loss program to your weight problem or (2) you are a current user and getting a bit harassed by the demands of the program. You can join a HCG weight loss forum.

If you belong to the first group, you will need reliable info to clear up some of the confusion that may be created by reading a lot of conflicting views about the program. You will read some health experts declaring the HCG hormone useless and the diet dangerous. You will read about the diet leading to serious health problems resulting from lack of nutrition that will prevent proper functioning of the body and loss of protein in some vital organs.

On the other side of the fence are advertisements declaring the ability of the program to eliminate one two pounds of body fat on a daily basis through the absorption of 125 iu of the hormone for 23 or 43 days and adherence to a very low calorie diet (VLCD). You will read about how the hormone speeds up the metabolism of the body, improving its fat burning work and how it suppresses hunger fangs. You will be informed that the 500 calorie a day diet does not pose any health dangers since part of the program is three day calorie load-up period designed to give you ample source of energy and ensure that the metabolic process does not eat up your muscles. The advocates, however, will not try to rush you into the program unprepared and advise you to have a pre-diet medical check-up to ensure positive outcomes and prevent health problems from happening.

There is no better way to clear up conflicting views and getting to the truth of the program than by considering the experiences of actual users. They have the sole authority to declare the program either effective or an elaborate hoax.

If you belong to the second group, the more you have need of HCG weight loss forums. Members of forums will be more than willing to help you out with the difficulties you are experiencing and they can boost your flagging resolve by providing helpful tips. In any case, the simple thought that there are others saddled with the same difficulties should be enough to help you decide not to give up. HCG diet forums can be your most reliable support group.

How to Avoid Middle Age Weight Problems by Changing Your Eating Habits

Two of the major reasons for weight problems as we approach middle age are that most people become less inactive. The other reason is your metabolism (your calorie burning factory inside of you) slows down a little every year, so by the time you're in your middle age your factory (metabolism) will burn fewer calories than when you were in your twenties. Your life style in your middle age may not be as active as you were when you were younger. If that's the case, you may be able to avoid middle age weight problems by changing your eating habits.

Low fat diets may not be the best way to control weight, especially for a long period of time. Some man-made processed foods include margarine and any oils that have been "hydrogenated," these are better known as "trans-fats" and are very difficult to digest.

Another culprit to weight problems is sugar. It comes in all kinds of guises, like sucrose, fructose, and dextrose. Try drinking and eating foods without sugar. You may be surprised how good tasting they will become. Cutting down on the amount of sugar you take is a really good way to start controlling your middle age weight problems.

Raw food is the most nutritious food. Boiling for a short while, or stir-frying helps remove any unwanted bacteria and viruses and improves the flavor.

(A note: microwaving will not kill harmful bacteria or viruses. Microwaving does nothing more than make the molecules bounce around so much that the food gets hot, but is not sterilized as other ways of cooking like boiling or stir-frying)

As a rule of thumb, eat the easy-to-digest foods first. If you're going to have fruit with your meal it is actually better to eat it first, it's nature's true appetizer. Fruits will digest easily and get your digestive tract ready for the vegetables, fish or meat that follow. Drinking liquids should be the last thing you have after eating, water being the optimal choice.

Another thing you can do now is start eating in moderate amounts. Eat less but eat more often. Make your meals smaller but eat more often. Most restaurants serve humongous amounts of food for lunch. Separate what you will eat now and what you will eat later and ask the restaurant for a doggy bag for what you'll eat later. Of all the suggestions so far, this one will have the biggest and most immediate impact on you.

Adrenal Gland Disorders and Weight Problems

Adrenal gland disorders can be a common cause of weight problems, and this can include a weight gain or a weight loss, depending on the specific disorder. Whether a weight gain or a weight loss occurs will depend on whether the condition is a result of over production or under production of hormones. Each of your kidneys has an adrenal gland situated at near their top, and these glands produce a number of hormones that help regulate your metabolism, as well as other bodily functions and processes. There are a number of disorders that are caused by these glands, and each has certain symptoms including those that can affect your weight.

Cushing Syndrome is one of the most common adrenal gland disorders, and this condition will cause a weight gain in many people. The weight gained seems to settle around the abdomen and the face, and anyone who has this condition may have a moon like facial appearance. The hormone cortisol which is produced by these glands is released in amounts too large, and this causes a weight gain and a slower metabolism. If you experience excess weight in the face and abdominal area then you should be tested to determine what your cortisol levels are. Even if the cause is not Cushing Syndrome it could be an excess of cortisol in your system that needs to be corrected.

Another of the adrenal gland disorders that affect your weight is Addison disease, and this can result in a weight loss. This is caused because there is not enough cortisol being released, and no matter how much you eat you may have a very difficult time gaining weight, if you manage to do it at all. Usually cortisol supplementation can help reverse this situation and stop the weight loss once your hormone levels are normal again.

Pheochromocytoma is another disorder that has an impact on your weight. This is another one of the adrenal gland disorders that can result in weight loss, sometimes by a substantial amount. With this condition your adrenal medulla, the inner part of the gland, secretes too much of the catecholamines. This can cause weight loss as well as a number of other symptoms. No matter whether your weight fluctuation is an unexpected loss or gain, if you gain or lose more than ten pounds without dieting or making lifestyle changes then you should be examined by a doctor. The cause could be adrenal gland problems which require treatment, and once treated then your weight may return to normal.

Weight Problems

Are you being burdened of your weight problems? Are you often teased about your waistline in school or work? And have you been avoiding your home mirror because you don't want to see your less-than magnificent body? Here are some helpful hints to overcome them.

Determine the problem

Truthfully, it is really you that has the weight dilemma. Stop blaming your parents, grandparents and even your ancestors in passing the "obese gene" in you. The only thing you can do right now is accept that you have weight problems and you are the only one that can help yourself. Stop thinking about "hundred-thousand-dollars-treatments-that-would-strip-you-all-the-fat-you-dislike". Accept the fact that if you want to be lean and mean, you need to work it all out yourself. In addition, having a pessimistic way of thinking would not be of any help, but would just increase your weight problems because of depression that would give birth to binge eating.

Plan to succeed

Second is planning. Losing weight is not as easy as most people think it is. It is easy for people who planned well and is committed on the plan. You need to plan for two main subjects. First is your diet, and second is your exercise routine. Planning is vital for your success. It is critical that you plan it on your current lifestyle. Meaning, that if you have a job that starts early in the morning, you can't plan to have an early morning job or walk around the park. Or if you are budget-challenged, you can't plan to have an all fruit diet or other expensive diet methods. Do your plan on a weekly basis with lots of options so that you won't get tired of doing the same thing for multiple times.

Eat often but less

Never plan to starve yourself. Fasting is acceptable if you do it the right way. Many people skip meals, telling themselves that they can eat on the next meal instead. Skipping meals, especially water, stresses the body, making you feel hungrier than what you really feel. This leads you to have the "occasional doughnut" syndrome when you pass by a bakery while jogging. This is not good and it would just leave you tired after a workout without any progress at all. Try eating 6 meals per day with carefully planned servings.

Step it up

Commit yourself to cardiovascular exercise. It could be jogging, walking, dancing or any other activity you like that would keep you sweating. Plan to have it daily, at least for 1 ½ hours a day. Doing it 5 days a week, plus a low-calorie diet would help you lose at least 2lbs per week. Involve a rotating schedule on the activities as well. It could be jogging every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and basketball with Cousin John on the other days.

If you will stick with these hints for a month or two, I guarantee you success. For faster results, visit http://citricor.com/.

When People Use Their Weight Problem For Hiding Other Issues

Putting weight on is really easy thing to do. Life brings unexpected situations all the time, and not everyone is that strong to deal with some of them, without consequences. Just one difficult and complicated situation, in one short period in our lives is enough to make us weak and look for a comfort in a food. That is all we need to gain extra weight.

Maybe we are unhappy about many things in our lives and instead of doing something about it, taking control in our own hands, we are after comfort in over eating. Very often, we are dealing with some other, deeper issues that we are not aware of.

It is easier, but crazy, to stay in the house most of our lives because we are not into dealing with everyday life. If we find a job, we must deal with different people and maybe even get rejected or being hurt by someone. If we are in a relationship, same thing can happen to us. However, if we think reasonably and straight, we must know, read or hear from other people that rejection happens to everyone, sooner or later. It is not possible that everyone loves that one person. That cannot happen even in the movies.

Rejection and possibility of being hurt is part of life and you shouldn't avoid it because it is good for you. It makes you stronger and more resistant to those situations. It makes you even realize that you can also say no to other people even if that hurts them. All those are valuable lessons and situations, maybe even the best.

That is why you don't need to hide behind your weight problems. You need to get out and live your life. In meantime, you will deal with your inner fear of failure, you will become happier and more confident and you will solve your problem easier and with less emotional consequences. What is important is that your weight problem will not be on your way to live. When you take control and bring balance into your life, many problems get solved subconsciously. Just be brave, take one-step at the time and you will see. If your biggest problem is losing weight, you will be able to solve it with pleasure, only if you are a happy person inside.

Can Nighttime Eating Lead to Weight Problems?

Researchers have found that mice that ate a high fat diet during the daytime gained 28% weight while those that ate the same fat rich diet during the night gained 40% weight! Doctors have reason to believe that the same thing could be happening in humans too and that nighttime eating could lead to weight gain problems.

Clearly, when you eat is as important as what you eat!

According to experts, eating patterns must be in line with the natural rhythms of the body. The cicardian clock decides when we should eat and sleep. Studies have found that this internal clock also regulates the usage of energy by the body. Therefore, any alterations could disrupt the delicate balance between food intake and energy expenditure. Since more than half of the day's calorie intake takes place at night when the body is ready to sleep, these calories are stored as fat.

One of the reasons for nighttime eating leading to weight problems is in the total number of calories taken in. Nighttime eating is generally filled with comfort foods and these foods are high in calorific content. Mind you, victims generally snack after they have had their dinner. As a result, their weight increases rapidly.

It has been suggested that one of the most effective ways of losing weight is to have an early dinner and to allow the body to starve until breakfast. When the body is depleted of energy, it will start using up fat reserves. When frequent eating takes place at night, additional calories are stored in the body. Also, the body has no time to give the digestive organs a rest or use up its fat reserves.

It is true that night time eaters eat very little during the day time. However, various social occasions often make it necessary for victims to eat excessive amounts of calories during the day time too. But, this does not stop them from snacking as usual at night. All these calories add up and the result is serious weight gain.

It is easy to see that force of habit, social commitments and the natural rhythms of the body make it easy for nighttime eating to cause weight gain problems.

Dog Weight Problems - Is Your Dog Exercising Enough?

Everyone knows that a dog, like a human, needs exercise to avoid weight problems but how much exercise is enough? We really must take into consideration the dog's breed and size as well as the dog's age and possible limitations. So, let's go over a few important points in order to set up a proper exercise regimen for our best friend.

We need to take a look at the dog's breed first. Over time, dogs have been bred for many different purposes; to work, to hunt, to race, for show, etc. If a dog's natural instincts tell it to chase after anything that moves he will probably be more active than one that has been bred to sit on one's lap looking beautiful. If it's in a dog's nature to pull or carry loads for its master, how happy and how fit will the dog be if he's lying on a sofa all day? Working and hunting dogs need to feel worthwhile and like to be kept busy by their owners. If you own one of these breeds, you must put extra effort into maintaining a high level of activity for them or they will develop behavioral and/or dog weight problems.

Now, let's take a look at your dog's size. Large dogs are incapable of getting the exercise they need by running around the house unless they have access to a large yard where they can run and play. Just because they lie on the floor doesn't mean they're tired and would rather not go for a brisk walk. However, even if you have a large yard, your dog will still need walks and play time because, to him, the yard simply becomes a larger room and he'll eventually get bored. Small dogs, on the other hand, can keep themselves quite active indoors. If your dog interacts with other pets in the house, runs, jumps and has rigorous sessions with his toys, he may be getting sufficient exercise along with his daily walks to keep him healthy and happy.

If you have a young dog or puppy in your home, you shouldn't have much trouble getting him out of the house and walking. However, if your dog is getting on in years, you should gently encourage him to go for daily walks which will help to keep him agile. Don't force him into strenuous exercise that could harm him, however. A walk doesn't have to turn into a marathon or an uphill hike in the mid-summer sun. Just as in humans, age slows down a dog's metabolism. Therefore you should continue his daily exercise which will help to control any weight gain (see Dog Weight Problems for good information on this topic) which, in turn, may help to reduce the severity of joint disease.

Obviously, there are situations that are not conducive to lots of physical activity such as illness or pregnancy. If your dog is ill, a few days' rest will probably do him more good than a forced walk. Pregnant females should never be pushed into strenuous activity and should be allowed to rest for a couple of hours after meals.

So what if you aren't able to go for long walks? Don't worry. Your dog will benefit (and so will you) from shorter, more frequent walks and also from playing fetch, tugging on a rope toy and even playing (or trying to destroy) a special stuffed toy that you give him. Just remember that if you give your dog chew toys like rawhide strips or pig ears which can occupy him physically and mentally for long periods of time, too many may create unwanted weight problems. Another thing you can do is find out where the dog parks are in your area because your dog will truly benefit from running and exploring without being hampered by a leash and you'll probably find areas where you can sit and watch him. If you have neighbors with dogs that are approximately the same size, you can set up play dates so they can run, wrestle and simply socialize.

Keep in mind that their hearts, muscles and circulatory systems need strengthening just like our own and because of this, activity is the key. However, your best friend would much rather drop in his tracks than let you down so make sure he's not over-heating (carry some water for him if you go out on very hot days) and that he's not overly tired. And, of course, if you are planning to make a big change in your dog's exercise regimen, please make sure to check with your veterinarian first.

Thyroid and Weight Problems Reaching Epidemic Proportions Today - How Are They Linked?

Weight problems are certainly epidemic in our society today, with around 2/3 of adults and 1/3 of children being overweight. In addition, up to 59 million Americans have thyroid problems, many of them undiagnosed. In fact, a recent study showed that up to ten percent of the US population may have a thyroid problem that is not diagnosed. Many doctors feel that number would be even higher if it included those whose thyroid blood tests fall within the range of normal, but still have thyroid symptoms. There seems to be an epidemic of thyroid problems today, probably caused in no small part by our diets. Why is this so and how is it linked to America's weight problems?

Iodine Blockers Including Soy Products Can Cause Thyroid Problems

Well, as far as our diets are concerned, it's generally accepted that low levels of iodine can cause low functioning thyroids. That's why iodine is added to our salt. However, refined table salt, with iodine added, may not be the best delivery system. We also are eating more and more goitrogens, a fancy word for iodine blockers, in our diets today, like raw cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower, peanuts and soy. That soy may be bad for you is certainly contrary to popular opinion at the moment, but did you know that Asians actually consume very little soy, less than 1 to 2 percent of their total calories, and what they do consume is often fermented for long periods of time, which neutralizes most of the toxins, as with miso, tempeh and soy sauce? Most Americans eat lots of soy foods, to the tune of $4 billion dollars per year. Even if you are not specifically buying soy food items, you are still eating soy, because it is increasingly added to our packaged foods, in the way of soy flour, hydrolyzed soy protein, soy oil and more. In fact, it has been estimated that approximately 10% of calories Americans eat per day come in some form of soy, and this may be a major cause of thyroid problems.

Heavy Metals and Fluoride in Water Supplies Add to Thyroid Problems

In addition, about 50 percent of America's water is now fluoridated, and some studies show that fluoride consumption can also be a problem for the thyroid gland. Further, some practitioners find that simply doing a heavy metal detox relieves thyroid problems, and increased exposure to pollution, pesticides and these heavy metals are also probably far from minor factors in the increase in thyroid problems.

Thyroid Problems May Lead to Weight Problems

Research indicates that one major cause of weight problems in America today may be an under-active thyroid gland, especially among women. That's because the thyroid gland controls body temperature and metabolism, and when the thyroid is sluggish, body temperature and metabolism tend to slow down. In fact, thyroid hormones influence all the cells in your body. That's why they can have an impact on many things including reproduction, growth, nerve and muscle function, blood sugar and insulin and more. Some other symptoms of low or hypothyroid are fatigue, cold hands and feet, depression, anxiety, constipation, easy bruising, insomnia, dry skin, unhealthy and brittle nails, allergies and asthma, migraines, acne, hair loss and low sex drive.

Do You Have An Undetected Thyroid Problem?

According to Kenneth Blanchard, M.D., in his book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Hypothyroidism," many people who test normal for thyroid levels are actually suffering from undetected thyroid problems. This is because the test measures thyroid hormone levels in the blood, but what is in your tissues is far more important.

A Simple Home Test to See if You May Have Thyroid Problems Despite Normal Thyroid Blood Tests

Do you think you might have a thyroid problem based on the some of the symptoms mentioned above? Are your thyroid blood tests normal? According to Dr. Wilson, you may have Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome. In order to find out, he recommends that you take your temperature with a thermometer following these guidelines:

By mouth
Every 3 hours
3 times a day, starting 3 hours after waking

Do this for several days (women need do this anytime EXCEPT during the 3 days before their period starts, as the reading may not be accurate then). If your temperature is consistently below 98.6 degrees F, and you have some of the symptoms mentioned above, you may very well have Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome (low thyroid functioning). If you do, there are many things people have done to successfully correct this problem, including adding more natural iodine into your diet, like from sea weeds and unrefined sea salt, adding virgin coconut oil to your diet, eliminating goitrogens from your diet, eliminating consumption of fluoride, and doing a heavy metal detox. We highly recommend speaking with your health care practitioner about what might help you the most.

4 Health Mistakes Responsible for Weight Problems

If you are making the 4 stupid health mistakes mentioned below, it's time to wise up. Here's a lowdown on mistakes that even the smartest of people are making:

Skipping breakfast

People have a misconception that skipping breakfast will help them lose weight. But actually, when you wake up, you need food to get your metabolism rate back to normal. If you don't eat in the mornings, your energy level will go down and you will end up consuming more calories throughout the day to compensate that loss. Oatmeal, fruit smoothies and vegetable juices can be prepared in less than 10 minutes, so now you don't have any excuse to skip the first important meal of the day.

Not lifting the weights

Many overweight people, especially women, don't lift weights because they think that it will add bulk to their frame. Lifting weights won't make you beefy. Any resistance training programme will cause a bit of weight gain at the start, but soon you will lose all the fat and only have muscle weight. Include weight lifting in your workout routine and get a more trimmed and toned you. Also, weight lifting boosts your metabolism, which again helps you to lose weight.

Surviving on shakes

If you almost always replace your meals with health shakes, smoothies and juices, you might be putting your health in jeopardy by not taking all nutrients necessary for body. If you don't cut back on food and still have these liquid fixes, you might be consuming more than 1000 extra calories a day. In both cases, you are inviting weight problems. The safest route is to restrict your smoothies, coffee and sodas to once a week.

Relying completely on slimming pills

A lot of people take slimming pills to lose weight, which is not wrong; what is wrong that some of them rely totally on these pills to lose weight. You just can't sit back and expect slimming pills to do all the work. Whether you take slimming pills available over the counter or buy prescription medications like Xenical orlistat, one thing that remains constant is that they won't help you unless you help yourself. Wise up, stay active, hit the gym and control your calorie intake - only then Xenical orlistat or any other pills can help you.

A New Clue to the Link Between Dopamine Receptors and Weight Problems

Science has been searching for the connection between weight problems and our brains for a long time now. New research points to a gene that could prod people to overeat and gain weight. The most recent findings indicate that obese people seem to have fewer dopamine receptors in the brain... giving them less of an ability to feel pleasure in eating and encouraging them to eat more to get the same pleasure.

The research used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the pleasure centers of the brain in a group of 53 female university students and 33 teenage girls, looking at the response to food. Subjects were given sips of a chocolate milkshake, and then a tasteless solution. Participants were also checked for the presence of a genetic variant called Taq1A1, linked to a lower number of dopamine D2 receptors in the brain. The body mass index of the subjects was then tracked for one year.

At the end of the follow up, researcher found that subjects whose brain was less activated by the chocolate milkshake and who had the gene variant, were also most likely to have gained weight during the year of follow up. The increase was 3.6%. "This is the first imaging study which found less activation of dopamine receptors in [some] humans," said study lead author Eric Stice, a scientist at the Oregon Research Institute in Portland.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that gets released when you eat... bringing that feeling of pleasure. In our distant past, this "pleasure chemical" was a reward to the body for eating a life sustaining meal. The amount of dopamine released is related to the level of pleasure experienced, and it seems that some of us are just genetically predisposed to not have the number of dopamine receptors we need.

Earlier work has shown that obese individuals tend to have fewer D2 receptors than leaner people. This may explain why some can eat anything they want and not gain... and others feel they eat normally and still gain.

This latest work is the result of a collaboration between clinical psychologists from Oregon Research Institute and the University of Texas, and sensory neuroscientists from the John B. Pierce Laboratory and the Yale University School of Medicine. The research was funded by a grant (R1MH64560A) from the National Institutes of Health Roadmap for Medical Research.

"What is new here is that for the first time they have identified the consequences of this genetic polymorphism (type) in how the brain functions," said Dr. Nora Volkow who has worked to identify the role of the D2 gene (the one missing in the ORI subjects) in overeating. Now the director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, she's worked hard to make the link between addictive behaviors and the human brain. She also makes the connection between lack of dopamine receptors and other abusive behaviors, instances of people doing things like drinking and drugs compulsively, even when they know better.

And while you can't change the genetics of your brain right now, there are things you can do to help yourself fight back against weight problems. Eating a healthy diet, and consuming meals more slowly are important first steps. You'll also want to be sure you're active - getting two to three workouts per week - to help activate the dopamine pathway and reduce the urge to overeat.

Is There a Genuine Cure For Weight Problems?

This may seem like a ludicrous question. Everybody knows diets never work permanently right? Yes, but here are some very different things you will want to know about food and diets. This is new information that will challenge everything we have all been taught about diets and nutrition, for the past forty years.

Almost every day, we are urged to follow a diet based on complex carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables, some proteins and small amounts of reduced fat, (whatever that is). This is not the diet on which we evolved and thrived for centuries, which made us the lean, healthy human beings we were till just forty years ago.

In the course of forty years, it has become widely accepted that to be healthy, people must follow a healthy diet, prescribed by a plethora of self proclaimed Diet Experts. Nowhere in our past history was it ever suggested that to Diet was necessary for good health. Our body was created to be able to control our weight with foods evolution prescribed for us.

If you examine the contrast of body shapes between the people who were young forty years ago, to the people who are young today, you can be excused for saying; the only advancement which can be attributed to the diet industry since then, is a fast growing epidemic of obesity and type2 diabetes.

Today, our health is not a testament to what is referred to as our Healthy Diet. It is a testament to our amazing resilience to withstand the damage of foods which nature never intended us to eat.

In the past, most people knew instinctively what foods we were meant to eat. Their instincts must have worked, because people did not tend to put on weight, they did not go hungry, they rarely became obese and when they did it was usually due to a medical condition like an under active thyroid or Diabetes. No one had even heard of Type 2 Diabetes.

Then along came the cereal manufacturers, followed by Nutritionists, Dieticians, and diet food manufacturers. Here was a new pseudo science, dressed in a cloak of legitimacy, but without a shred of genuine scientific research to back it up.

We would not feed our animals on a diet of complex carbohydrates, breakfast cereals, low fat snack foods, and vast amounts of fruit and vegetables. If we did, we would see our pets become fat, listless and unhappy. They could even die. Yet, we seem to advocate this as a healthy diet for human beings.

Too many vested interests control the foods we eat today. We need to take responsibility for our own choices and stop listening to those who preach what is clearly in their own interest. We can no longer afford yet another guru diet, which is not based on genuine science, offers not a shred of genuine research, or statistics on human trials. Let us make no mistake here; to these co called Experts, we ARE the Research.

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves where we come from. Different mammals may have different digestive systems, but we cannot stand in the face of nature and decide to change, or improve on what nature designed. Not without consequences. Climate change should have taught us that. Wherever we see human intervention to nature, we see trouble.

A good intention, even when genuine, is no proof of anything except good intentions. Nutritionists and dieticians seem to genuinely believe they have made a valuable contribution to the health and welfare of the world. Since this is a bold claim, based not on science, but on optimism, it is a good opportunity to take a good look around and get the measure of the average person you pass in the street today. Then ask yourself; where is the evidence? If those claims were true, weight problems would at least be diminished by now. Instead, we are faced with the biggest epidemic of weight problems ever seen.

It is time to accept that weight problems do not rest with the dieter, the problem is the diet.

Today, more than sixty percent of the population is classified as overweight. Many are already obese and many more will follow. For those who slide into obesity, there is just a short step to what we call type 2 Diabetes. This is yet another phenomenon no one had heard of forty years ago.

We need to discard the latest so called Healthy Balanced Diet, the newest in a forty year old tradition of carefully constructed and ultimately discredited diets. We need to get back to basics. We need to re-learn the right foods because we seem to have forgotten what they are. It is finally possible to answer these three very important questions. Why it is so hard to lose weight? Why, when we repeatedly diet, does it become ever more difficult to lose weight? And why, when we finally lose some weight, can we never get a permanent weight loss?

Astrology and Weight Problems

Let us take a look at how astrology and weight problems can be identified. In a horoscope there are 12 houses and the first house is representing the physical body. Certain astrological signs or planets in the first house has a tendency to make you put on weight. However there are other points in your horoscope which can have a similar affect.

Your physical body is for the most parts determined through the mixture of the physical characteristic from the rising sign and the Moon and Sun signs, and you also have to consider the influences of the persons genetics.

The elements will also influence your appearances. For example if you are strongly influenced by a water sign then you will probably be withholding fluid in your body which can create swelling of the body. Being dominated by a fixed sign will most probably cause you to have thicker fleshy tissues and will probably tend to become overweight.

Other planets will influence your appearance if placed in the first house. The Moon in this position if no hard aspect is at work can contribute to you putting on weight. Jupiter the planet of expansion can also influence your appetite for good food and therefore you will most likely put on weight and so expand your body.

When Venus the planet of love for the good life is placed in the first house it will most certainly add to your charm and good looks but you may also indulge in to much good food and so gain more weight than is good for you.

The planet Mars in the first house will work quite differently because this is the planet of action. Mars is an energy planet and will acts as the engine for you. With this placement you will most probable be a very active person who wants to get things done fast so weight problems should not be a problem. Mars will give you the get up and go and fight for what you want.

This is just an indication and a bit of a guide of what to look for in the astrological horoscope if you have a weight problem. If you get an understanding of how the planets and signs can influence your body weight then you are much better equipped to control your own body weight.

Controlling your body weight according to the " astrological planets " and signs can be effective for both yourself and your children. Understanding Your Weight Problem

Most often people have great difficulty losing weight because they don't know a lot about it. One of the best ways to start understanding your weight problem is to become informed. Learn why you are suffering from this, what is causing it and then you can start tackling what you are going to about it.

Your overall diet plan should consist of a way of tracking what you're eating. This way you will be able to analyze your eating habits. Start by making a list of what you eat during the day but don't make any changes in the beginning. Just make the list and be sure to include the time you ate the items on your list so you can get some idea of what your daily routine is really like. This is going to help determine what has been contributing to your weight problem.

This will help to identify where your problem areas are. You might find that you skip breakfast and then eat a fast food lunch because your work prevents a proper lunch interval, or you're at home and don't want to take the time to stop to prepare a healthy meal. Something that you can do about this is to spend some time in the morning preparing your lunch for that day. It will be much easier on you when you can just go to the fridge and grab your pre made lunch and it's going to be a timesaver as well.

Your body build may be another weight problem with your weight and something that should be remembered is that the cells in your muscles will burn far more energy when you're resting and not burn as much when it comes to your fat cells. Therefore, what can happen is if you don't have much muscle tone, your way will remain the same even when you don't eat as many calories.

Often what will happen in this case is individuals will go on starvation diets and this can have some very serious consequences because of the lack of nutrients. It is then difficult to change this cycle around and start to eat more food rather than less because of the concept of dieting is that you want fewer calories.

Therefore, the physical concept is that if you build muscle you will force your body to burn more calories even while you are at rest. Poor muscle mass could be one of the very reasons why up until now you have not been able to lose weight and you are continuing to have a weight problem.
